What is Kahnawake license?

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission was established in 1996 by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke and regulates interactive gaming conducted from within the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawà:ke, in Quebec, Canada. It is one of the earliest online gaming regulators and has supervised operators continuously since the late 1990s. Because the Territory sits inside Canada, the license is sometimes described loosely as "a Canadian license" - but it is issued under the Commission's own framework, not by a federal or provincial Canadian authority, and holding a Canadian corporation does not give you it.
What the framework involves
The Commission licenses both the operation and the people behind it. Applications involve review of the applicant entity and its ownership, suitability and integrity checks on key persons, the business and gaming model, and the technical and operational setup. Applicants should expect to provide corporate and KYC documentation together with AML, player verification and responsible gaming policies.
